DARTMOUTH COLLEAGUES IN VERMONT ASSEMBLY HONOR A. E. WATSON '83
ALFRED E. WATSON '83, dean of the General Assembly of the State of Vermont and occupant for many years of Seat No. 1, was honored on March 10 by his Dartmouth colleagues in the House who tendered him a luncheon and passed a mock bill in tribute to his long service. The act was duly signed by Governor William H. Wills, who was also present at the luncheon. Mr. Watson is both secretary and class agent for the Class of 1883 and first represented the nearby town of Hartford, Vermont, in 1894.
The special bill, prepared by George R. McKee '23, legislative draftsman, was passed unanimously as follows:

AN ACT TO HONOR ALFRED E. WATSON, DARTMOUTH 'B=l AND DEAN OF THE 1943 GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF VERMONT.
Is is hereby enacted by Governor Wills and theDartmouth men in the General Assembly ofthe State of Vermont:
Section 1. Wah-hoo-wah to Alfred E. Watson, Dartmouth College in the class of 1883 and Dean of the House of Representatives of the Vermont General Assembly of 1943, where he first represented \the town of Hartford in 1894. Outstanding in the many years of public service he will, upon completion of his present term as a member of the school board of his town, have rounded out onehalf century of service on said board. Alfred E. we salute you.
Sec. 2. We, the undersigned, Dartmouth members and associates of the general assembly of 1943 at luncheon on Wednesday, March 10, 1943, at twelve o'clock and thirty minutes post meridian at the Montpelier Tavern, are proud to take this occasion to honor our Dartmouth colleague, Alfred E. Watson in being a loyal Dartmouth man and a gentleman, and we congratulate him for the years of devoted service he has spent in the interests of the common good.
Sec. 3. This act shall and does take effect on March 10, 1943, as is evidenced by the signature of Governor Wills and all the endorsements hereon are testimonials of well wishes and good health to you, our good friend, Alfred E. Watson.
