Our classmate, Charles E. Beals, reports the marriage of his son, Charles A. Beals, on June 19 to Evelyn Louise Almquist at East Bridgewater, Mass. Charles A. was unable to attend Dartmouth and received a technical education at Wentworth In- stitute in Boston. Charles E. officiated at his son's wedding. Mary, '07's class baby, has been teaching at Oak Grove School, Vassalboro, Maine, during the past year, and is studying this summer at Boston University. Charles reports the arrival of another grandson in March.

George Hoyt has made the local newspapers and Time magazine. George is War Housing Center manager at Berkeley, California, and in the conduct of his work has met up with a rat problem. George's philosophy is, "If rats become too wise for trapping and poisoning, there is still another way—get them drunk," and he has offered the idea as a remedy for the wartime scarcity of rat catchers. When interviewed, George stated that when he worked his way through Dartmouth by helping to run the College Dining Association he found that rats were particularly fond of frozen pudding made with sherry. Acting on this knowledge he brewed a pudding for the Berkeley rats, and "I got those rats so tight I could catch them in my bare hands all over the place."

Thacher and Mrs. Worthen announce the marriage of their daughter, Mary Thacher, to Captain Robert Dean Morton, U. S. Army, on May 8 at Hartford, Connecticut.
