THE Dartmouth, oldest college newspaper in the country, has suspended publication for the duration and has been succeeded by a weekly paper, the Dartmouth Log. After managing to operate on its daily schedule during the intersession, The Dartmouth found its staffing and financial problems too great and on June 19 put out its final issue until peace time.
The Dartmouth Log, which made its initial appearance on July 3, is being published by the College for the joint use of the V-12 Unit and the civilian undergraduate body. Editor of the new paper is Charles E. Widmayer '30, Director of the College News Service and Associate Editor of the Alumni Magazine. Assisting him are Richard N. Tarlow '44 as graduate Business Manager and an undergraduate staff made up of civilians and Navy and Marine trainees.
