PLANS FOR A Dartmouth-Navy alumni organization, embracing some 4,000 past and present members of the Navy V-12 Unit, was first implemented on September 26 with the election of an 11-man executive committee by the members of the Unit then enrolled. Under the temporary chairmanship of A/S Max Pryor, who also headed the V-12 Student Council last term, the executive group held its first meeting on October 4 and decided that a special issue of the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE should be prepared for mailing early next term to all past and present members of the Unit.
When fully organized the executive committee will also include several representatives of former V-12 classes and will have a secretary-chairman and a treasurer, after the fashion of regular Dartmouth classes.
The general idea of a Dartmouth V-12 organization, favored by the great majority of trainees canvassed by questionnaire, was backed by the Dartmouth Alumni Council at its meeting last June, and recent plans by the newly elected executive committee were further approved by the Council at its Boston meeting on October 13.
