THE DARTMOUTH VOCATIONAL PLAN, according to a report submitted by Proessor Francis Neef, Director of the Personnel Bureau, at the meeting of the Alumni Council in Boston on October 13, is now well under way. Cooperating alumni committees have been organized in strategic areas throughout the country and additional committees will be instituted as the demand arises.
The request made by the Alumni Council at the spring meeting that the College undertake the operation of this placement program has been approved by President Hopkins and the work will be carried on as a part of the regular placement service of the Personnel Bureau. In order to be able to meet the heavy demands which will come from the alumni, especially from the Servicemen, Don Cameron '35, formerly with R. H. Macy and with the Mohawk Carpet Mills, has been appointed Associate in Placement in the Personnel Bureau.
Mr. Cameron and Mr. Neef have al-ready visited with the Alumni Vocational Committees in New York, Bridgeport, Worcester, and Boston, and report excellent progress in all these centers. These alumni groups have made very precise plans not only as far as the immediate responsibilities of the members of the Committees are concerned, but also for the surveying of job possibilities in their immediate communities. Mr. Cameron will leave Hanover on October 23 on a trip which will take him not only through the Eastern sections but the Coast and the Southern areas as well. During this trip Mr. Cameron expects to gather together valuable information which will help the Hanover office in coordinating the entire program more effectively. Another memorandum covering information that may be helpful to the various committees will be sent out sometime the latter part of December.
Mr. Cameron's itinerary so far includes the following cities: Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, Omaha, Minneapolis, Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis, Tulsa, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Washington, Philadelphia, and Baltimore.
