A QUIET SUMMER WAS MARKED with One big event; namely, a swimming and supper party given by Dr. and Mrs. Denny Sullivan '17 at Martin's Dam Club. This is not a new event but has been enjoyed by many of us in the past. Twenty-two men, their wives and sweethearts attended and spent a most enjoyable time.
Sheridan Baketel '20 has been appointed Regional Director of the Committee on Vocational Placement and is working with groups from Princeton, Yale, and Cornell to set up plans for placing college service men in jobs after their discharge. This is a big job and should be a success in the hands of such a capable man as Sherry.
Bill McCarter and Earl Brown brought the 1944 Dartmouth football team to Philadelphia to meet Penn and, although we could not claim a victory, the team put up a good fight and many of us who saw the game had visions of victory at several points. The evening before the game was marked with a gathering of fifty-two members (a wartime capacity crowd) and both Bill and Earl brought us news of Hanover and the Dartmouth teams.
At this writing we have plans for an informal gathering at the Princeton Club to celebrate Dartmouth Night on November 10. All men in service and civilians passing through Philadelphia will be more than welcome to our regular 12:30 Tuesday luncheons at 1223 Locust Street, plan to stop in and say hello.
