THE NEW SEMESTER which started March 6 marked the beginning of the Supply Corps Candidate School curriculum. There were 100 men enrolled in the first class. In addition, there were 113 Business Administration majors continuing the previous curriculum, of whom only nine were civilian students.

In order to carry on the expanded activities, the School has drawn on the College Faculty for assistance. Professor Clyde E. Dankert is teaching Industrial Relations in the Tuck School curriculum, and several others are aiding with the Supply Corps curriculum. Prof essor Irving E. Bender is teaching Psychology; Professor Albert S. Carlson, World Economic Geography; Professor Martin L. Lindahl, Acc ounting; Professors L. P. Rice and E. A. Sikes, Economics; and Professor E. E. Smead, Business Law.

Major Robert F. Brown T'40 wrote us a newsy letter the other day. Bob is stationed at Desert Center in the California-Arizona Maneuver Area, and has been in the desert for more than six months, training troops in Quartermaster problems. His present abode is "a tent in the middle of the desert amidst greasewood bushes, a pot-belly stove for heat, nearest running water a quarter-mile away, and the latrine something Chic Sales wouldn't brag about nor Crane invest in." He also rep orted having seen John Maloon T'3B in the desert, that Skip Morse D' 39 is stationed at the Bremerton Navy Yard and the father of a son and daughter, and that brother William T'3B is on a sub-chaser with headquarters in San Francisco.

C. F. Hathaway Jr. T'39 has been promoted to the rank of Captain. Congratulations Charlie! Pvt. Murray J. Latz T'42 writes that he is stationed in Australia in the Theater Fiscal Office. Ensign Ben R. Page D'42 is on sea duty. He mentions having spent a few weeks with Bud Sands D'42.

Edward Millikin D' 42 finished his indoctrination at the Naval Training School, Fort Schuyler, New York on March 24. He is in A-V (S) and is to be an aerologist. Ensign E. E. McCarthy D' 43 is on a ship doing patrol and convoy duty, and is attached to the section base in San Diego. George T. Conklin Jr. T'37 was promoted, effective January 1, 1944, to Assistant to the President, The Guardian Life Insurance Company. George also merits congratulations for having received a Ph.D. degree from N. Y. U., the work for which being done on top of his regular job. At last report, he was to enter the Army in March.

* Ensign Harry Schoenhut D' 43 recently paid us a visit. He is at present stationed at the Supply Corps School in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Ensign Eric Haessler T'42 spent a few days in Hanover late in February.

Mr. Frey is on leave this semester to serve as a special assistant to John L. Sullivan, Ass istant Secretary of the Treasury. The Surplus War Property Administration has recently assigned responsibility for the disposition of surplus consumer goods to the Procurement Division of the Treasury, under Mr. Sullivan. A 1 has been asked to assist in setting up the organization necessary to carry out this ass ignment. His broad background in the fields of marketing and organization gives him unique qualifications for the new task.

Mr. Foster spent the ten-day period between semesters in Washington in his capacity as consultant to the Rubber Price Branch of the O.P.A.

Mr. Burleigh spent a few days with us during the last week of February. "Nat" is still on leave from the School in order to serve as Chief, Service Industries Branch, W.P.B.

Mr. Wellman is back with us again after an operation which kept him in Dick's House for two weeks.
