Two NEW APPOINTMENTS to the Dartmouth College faculty were announced by President Hopkins last month. Nathan H. Rich, of the University of Maine, is taking over the post of Instructor in Mechanical Engineering at the Thayer School, and Paul Grahbe, recently at Columbia, will serve as Research Fellow in the Visual Sciences at the Dartmouth Eye Institute.
Mr. Rich, who reported April 10, is a graduate of the University of Maine, class of 1940. He specialized there in mechanical engineering and had been teaching that subject at the University until called to Dartmouth.
Mr. Grabbe, whose term begins May 1, is a native of St. Petersburg. Russia, where he graduated from the "Corps des Pages" Military Academy in 1917. He also engaged in private tutoring there, has since been busy with research and writing, and has most recently been associated with Columbia University and various government war agencies. He became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1932. With Gardner Murphy, chairman of the psychology department of the C.C.N.Y. and president of the American Psychological Society, he is joint author of a book entitled We Call It Human Nature, an important text book in the psychological field. He also served as editor in charge of analysis of editorial comment for the Office of War Mobilization and has more recently had confidential responsibilities with other government war agencies in Washington.
