Armory in Gym

To HOUSE THE ORDNANCE, communications and seamanship equipment required in the NROTC courses, the east wing of the College gym is being converted temporarily into an armory. It is expected that the gym will provide this essential headquarters for naval equipment until a NROTC building can be erected sometime in the future.

Under present plans, the ordnance installed will include a 5 inch, 38-caliber dual-purpose gun,, a 3-inch 50-caliber gun, and 40MM and 20MM anti-aircraft guns, range finders, gun directors, and computers. The balcony of the east wing will house a torpedo, torpedo director, mine, depth charge, and depth charge projector. There will also be 30 and 50 caliber machine guns, small arms and sub-assemblies, and a stereo trainer, as well as a reproduction of a ship's bridge and a gunnery trainer. A rifle and pistol range will also be installed.
