In the first inter-Allied ski meet held in Europe since the war, Captain John Litchfield '39, former Dartmouth ski star, placed fourth, his time in the combined downhill and slalom race being 2:05 2/5.
Captain Litchfield, who is an officer in the 10th Mountain Division, as a member of the Dartmouth ski team won the national intercollegiate jumping championship and the eastern intercollegiate cross country title.
First Sergeant Walter Prager, Dartmouth ski coach before he entered the service, won the meet over the 58 racers entered. The race was held on Austria's highest peak, 12461 foot Grosslockner.
