It is with the deepest regret that we learn of the death of Bill Rogers, former Congressman from New Hampshire, and a football star of our day. The full report of his death will, of course, be found in the In Memoriam section.
Under date of September 24, I have at hand from the college office a preliminary bulletin relative to the holding of belated class reunions in June 1946. As can well be imagined, it is a man-sized problem, just the matter of housing alone, i£ all classes decide to reune at that time. Donald W. Cameron '35 has been named to head a committee studying the problem, and we shall hear more later. However, your officers and executive committee would be more than pleased to have your thoughts, as we will have the task of deciding what to do when the College tells us what can be done. Drop me a line.
Herb Blaisdell, for twenty years with the Travelers Insurance Cos., in New Haven, has become District Group Supervisor for the same company for Maryland and the District of Columbia, with headquarters in Baltimore. His home address is now 2206 Roslyn Ave., Baltimore 16, Md., and he would like to hear from 'isers in that vicinity. Back when Herb was in New Haven, but living in Hamden, he was one of the real civic leaders of his community, and I know that he will soon display the same type of leadership in his new home, and carry the 'l5 banner in that locality.
From far-off India Dr. Art Boggs has returned to this country and now is to be addressed at 49 Pelham St., Newton Center 59, Mass. He will be a welcome member of the Boston group. He speaks of the thrill, throughout the years, of getting the ALUMNI MAGAZINE in India, to keep him in touch with the class and college, and certainly his is an example of being "round the girdled earth."
Well—it had to happen. Off with the threeyear-old gasoline rationing, and right up to Hanover drove—not quite the 600—but at least a vanguard of 'isers for the first game of the season with Holy Cross. Just who you thought would be there—Kike Richardson, Eben Clough, Jack Mason, Chan Foster, Sid Crawford, Sid Bull, Herb Potter1.
The story about Casey Jones in the September MAGAZINE has inspired him to write the words and music for a new Dartmouth song"Go Dartmouth"—which he is sending to the college band leader. All of which inspired one good classmate, typifying our cracked and ageing voices to remark: "Why didn't he do it thirty years ago, so he'd have the best group of song pluggers in the country to put it over?"
From Kell Rose, whose news letters as class agent have been super, I learn that Chan Harwood was in New York recently and was joined at lunch by Kell, Charlie Griffith, Red Folan, Jim Killeen, and Jim Mowry, just up from South Carolina for a few days.... that Kell likewise has had short visits from Jonny Mullin, Kike Richardson, Marvin Frederick .... that Dean Hazen, after a year and a half is going to LaPorte, Ind., with the United States Slicing Machine Company, leaving a fine home in Scarsdals to dispose of.... and, of course, Kell himself sends greetings to all. He has notified Bill Huntress that the New York Tuesday luncheons are about to start again, so ring him up when you land in New York.
