Two good loyal '98ers, namely Albert Smith and "Doc" Nolan sent the secretary the news items below. May their tribe increase! Such thoughtfulness warms the cockles of the secretary's heart and interests the entire class.

First Lieutenant Edmund M. Adams '19, son of Dr. and Mrs. Walter S. Adams of Pasadena, Calif., has been awarded the Air Medal for meritorious achievement while serving as navigator of a 15th Air Force Liberator bomber.

"Doc" Nolan writes, "Laurence Hewes was in town last week, attending the annual meeting of the American Society of Civil Engineers. The Thayer School annual party was also held at the Dartmouth Club and we prevailed on 'lke' Seelman to join us and we three had a delightful Reunion. Hewes recently saw Guy Gary and found him very fit, now retired from active business. Hewes also mentioned receiving a long and interesting letter from 'Tute' Worthen."

Harry Clark's address until spring is P. O. Box 222, Coos Bay, Oregon.

Ev and Ruth Snow were in Town during February and the secretary joined them in lunch at the Boston City Club. They are the youngest looking '98 couple the secretary has seen for many a day and are greatly enjoying their work in the rugged terrain of New Hampshire.

Jack Spring reports steady and encouraging returns for the Alumni Fund from '98. May we all respond cheerfully and promptly to Jack's eloquent and rhythmic plea.

It was our own "Buck" J. R. Chandler who contributed the tribute on "Ich" Crane, appearing in the January MAGAZINE.

Archie Kendall rounded up a party of twelve and turned up at a chicken supper at Ev Snow's church recently.

ONE BARD TO ANOTHER

Dear Jack, You've surely done it, far better than I could.

The operation that you had did you a world of good.

Besides two ounces and half that you admit you An inhibition was removed without an added cost. Perhaps, old friend, you d better try another operation, It might improve your prose a bit, also your versification. Then when we go to Hanover, you can pass around your card Showing some honorary degrees and a new title, "Bard." The Class will hail you as it should for efforts most worth while In combining types of class agents and doing it in style. The laurels won by Ted and Joe and Dennis Crowley too, . I've gathered into one great crown and hand it, Jack, to you. Long may you wear it gracefully, your bald pate to adorn And may it bring increasing joy whene er you put it on. If your good verse appeals to all as it appealed The checks will like the showers fall to fill the treasury , . , Of Ninety-eight's Alumni Fund for Dartmouth, ever dear," And crown your efforts with success, make this your banner year. So just to prove I am sincere, and mean just what I say, . You'll find enclosed the check of one who is not bald, but gray.
