George Davidson arrived in Westport, Conn., back from his R.F.C. work in Grand Rapids, Mich., to pick up the loose threads of his erstwhile construction activities—as he says, don't misunderstand that statement, he has no materials, just ideas. He was to leave for Florida late in October or early in November to check on his usual business contracts there. Florida may be the place this winter if Lewis' miners are still loafing.

George Munroe '43 is taking a leave of absence from Harvard Law to play professional basketball with the St. Louis Bombers. The Bombers are western leaders in their division of the Basketball Association of America. He is playing from three to four games a week and will have to travel about 20,000 miles. You will probably remember that George was a senior fellow and star basketball player at Hanover.

It will be a great shock to all to learn that Al Dessau died suddenly at his home in New York on Friday November 22. Full notice will follow in the In Memoriam section. Collis Wells, Leo Ashton, Chuck, Barbara and Phyllis Riley and John Remsen attended the funeral services representing the class. Ruth Munroe, our George's widow, is staying with Heth Dessau at present. Al was always in attendance at all Dartmouth affairs and his genial personality will be greatly missed.

Reports of attendance at several of the games have come in. Mose Linscott with John, Walt Haley and Loretta with Walter Jr., and T. D. Jewett and Marion, and the Fred Hovey's, of course, were at the Columbia game, with some repeats for the Harvard game. General and Edna Willson with the two boys and Nate Lenfestry's daughter Janet and Parker Trowbridge were also in Hanover for the Harvard game. Bill Towle saw Chip and Juanita Semmes at the Princeton game. Probably many more were among those present as well.

Hanover paragraph—the fraternities pledged nearly 500 students .Thirty-tour new members of Green Key were elected and four old members remain this year The Board of Governors of the Arctic Institute of North America was in session at the Hanover Inn in November for the third and final meeting this year Dartmouth's controversial undergraduate Constitution was thoroughly aired over DBS early in November, Dean Neidlinger in the role of "expert" defended it against the volley of questions and criticisms Seventeen girls flew from New York to Hanover for the Harvard weekend houseparties. "Weekend infractions at a minimum" evidently showed results of the Dean's blast after the Columbia game Marc Blitzstein, young unorthodox American composer lectured on "American Music—A New Trend" in the third of the Dartmouth Hall Lecture Series...

Survey reveals student apathy towards extracurricular activities and with the break- down of the old heeler competition system it is possible for the experienced or qualified to step into directorate positions. Study pressure is blamed... Il Trovatore was given in Webster Hall on November 14 by Desire Defauw and thirty Metropolitan Opera House musicians and an all American cast.
