Henry Merrill has just been elected 1945 National President of the Society of Industrial Realtors of the National Association of Real Estate Boards. His formal induction took place at the Society's annual meeting in Chicago, Ill., on January 26. Tubby was a charter member of the society, a member of its Governing Council in 1941 and regional vice president for three successive terms. He has long been identified with the Boston Real Estate Board and is a past president. He has been with C. W. Whittier & Bros, of Boston since his graduation from Tech School in 1914, and has been a partner since 1927 .
Harry T. French II was born on January 20 to Capt. and Mrs. Arthur B. French, and Harry and Florence are very proud of their new grandson. Arthur, who is stationed in England with the Medical Corps, has recently had a well earned leave spent most enjoyably in Scotland.
Harold McAllister's Allan, now in Hanover, has been playing fine hockey at defense this season Fred Page's Donald had a lucky break and was home from camp for the Christmas holidays.
Now that Christmas is over how about that bill for class dues; was it tucked away and forgotten? Certainly the arrival of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE should remind you to send your check to Bob Conant.
How about the seed catalogues? We hope all arrived, to help while away the long cold evenings we had this past winter, and that the Victory Garden plans are started now. The secretary would most gratefully appreciate word from you, or the wife, regarding the results so far with Victory Garden history and the canning records. We know what Sid and Lillian Akerstrom and T. D. and Marian Jewett and a few others accomplished. Send in your records.
On February 9 a censored Christmas card arrived from Matt and Dorothy Gately from Buenos Aires. As near as we can figure out from the. postmark it has been on its way three months or more. Matt hopes to be in Boston and Hanover in 1945.
George Watts at Davidson College, Davidson, N. C„ taught geography during the two years of great activity with Army Units at the College and is now "rocking along with a few civilian students."
Ted Haskell and Dot have gone to Sarasota, Fla., lock, stock and barrel, where the sunshine treats him better than in the north. He has had a series of physical set-backs, but with plenty of good fishing and hunting he will be back in circulation at an early date. They have bought a five-room bungalow, a quarter of a mile from the Gulf of Mexico, with an orange tree and a grapefruit tree in the back yard. Ted can be found at 3535 Jacinto Ave., Sarasota.
