This column was absent in the last issue due to a dearth of news—not a scrap by press time last October. But I'm now hooked up to email and am very pleased to have received messages from a number of our classmates. All the rest of you who are wired at home or at work—please send me a note! The address is . Here's the news from the Net:
Brewer Doran's Dartmouth Night mini-reunion suffered from the "worst weather I've seen in Hanover in October in years." Despite the deluge, the bonfire burned brightly and several '76ers turned up. Brewer saw Rob Salt zman, who was present for a Rockefeller Center Foundation meeting (he is on the board), Jerry Daly, and Naomi Baline Klein man. Jerry is now with the Rockport Cos. and is looking for a volunteer to serve as Reunion chair for our next "big" class Reunion in 1997. If anyone is interested in taking this on or wants to nominate an energetic classmate, call Jerry at (800) 762-5767.
Brewer is also organizing mini-reunions around the country. Ken Monteiro has kindly agreed to organize a Bay Area Reunion. Anyone interested in helping or attending can contact Ken at (415) 338- 7555 or . Anyone else who is interested in organizing an event in their region should send Brewer a note at .
Speaking of Dr. Monteiro, Ken has triumphed in a series of increasingly byzantine academic battles and is finally chair of the department of psychology at San Francisco State. Ken sees Rich Nichols and spouse Jenny and daughter Savannah at random but not-infrequent intervals. Nick is now practicing law with Sideman & Bancroft in San Francisco and, according to Ken, "Savannah is almost one year old and beautiful (like her mom)."
Also running hard in the beautiful and intelligent daughter sweepstakes are Mikeand Do Brait—they have three, including a set of twins. Ken visited them at their home in Winnetka, 111., last year, and reports that their house is wonderful, their daughters charming, and, just to depress the rest of us, Mike is looking as "outrageously fit as he did when quarter backing for the College." Ken also heard from a usually reliable informant that Amanda Green is living in Los Angeles and, as always, is heavily involved in the arts. L.A. looks like a prime spot for a mini-reunion. Tom Reugger and GregPayne are notables in the media industry and Amanda certainly knows how to throw a party. Any volunteers down there among the palms? There have been a couple reported sightings of Gary Love, one "from a distance" by Brewer Doran at the Hanover mini-reunion ("but I can't confirm it") and a near-miss in San Francisco, where Rich Nichols spoke with Gary's spouse, Pam Joyner, but did not actually see the man himself. If anyone can confirm a sighting, let me know.
