Alumni Council Elections
ANNUAL SPRING ELECTIONS of members of the Alumni Council whose terms expire June 30 are announced by the Secretary of the College, Sidney C. Hayward '36. Certain positions on the Council will become vacant and in some cases, as described below, present incumbents are not eligible for reelection having completed the allotted number of years of service.
According to constitutional provisions, nominations are made by alumni clubs and associations in the seven Council districts of the country. There is also a means of submitting nominations from any group of one hundred or more graduates of the College as explained below. Wherever more than one nomination is made from a district mail ballots for election will be sent to all graduates of the College in that section.
The length of term is two years for district representatives. A limit of two successive terms is placed on service in order to provide for membership on the Alumni Council by some number of alumni over a period of years.
JUNE VACANCIES
In the New England States District John. S. Everett 'OB of Augusta, Maine, completes his first term and is therefore eligible for reelection. Robert P. Booth '22 of Manchester completes his second term and is not eligible for reelection.
In the Middle Atlantic States District Philip H. Chase '07 of Philadelphia completes his second term and is not eligible for reelection. Leslie W. Snow 'is of New York City completes his second term and is not eligible for reelection.
In the Central States District Edwin R. Keeler '11 of Chicago completes his first term of office and is eligible for reelection.
In the Middle-western States District Henry E. Atwood '13 of Minneapolis comCaptain pletes his second term and is not eligible for reelection. Voyle D. Rector '15 of Omaha completes his second term and is not eligible for reelection.
In the Southern States District Walter B. Elcock '12 of Atlanta completes his first term and is eligible for reelection. Edward Stafford '11 of Washington, D. C, completes his second term and is not eligible for reelection.
In the Southwestern States District Dwight J. Edson '18 of Houston completes his first term and is eligible for reelection. John W. Bates '10 of Tulsa completes his second term and is not eligible for reelection.
In the Western States District James J Norton 'OB of Los Angeles completes his first term and is eligible for reelection.
METHOD OF NOMINATION
According to Article V, Section 3, of the Alumni Council constitution, nominations beyond those submitted ,by approved alumni clubs may be made as follows:
The Secretary of the General Association ofAlumni shall publish in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE not later than the February issue a statement of thevacancies, if any, to be filled the ensuing July 1. Inaddition to the method of making nominationsthrough local alumni clubs and associations as explained above, it will be possible for any groupof 100 alumni qualified to vote in the AlumniCouncil election of that year to petition the Secretary in favor of a properly qualified nominee, thepetition to carry the endorsement of the candidatewhose name will then appear on the election ballot of that district. Such nominations must be received by the Secretary of the General Associationnot later than April 10.
