Major DeOrmond (Tuss) McLaughry became, as of April 1, once more Coach McLaughry, as he was placed on inactive duty following an extended stint with the Marines. The football season for next fall will be decided in large part, insofar as its success is concerned, by the new NROTC program which at this writing has not been officially announced The track team closed its indoor season by placing fourth in the IC4A meet at Madison Square Garden, finishing behind Army, Navy, and New York University, in that order. The Green's total of 111/2 points were gleaned from Joe Conley's tie for first in the high jump, Bill Fetzer's fifth in the shot, Sam Felton's third in the 35-pound weight throw, and a third in the mile relay. The latter was negotiated by a pick-up relay team consisting of one regular quarter miler, two half milers, and a miler, who finished in a photo-flash behind NYU and Army Jeff Tesreau has some 22 baseball hopefuls sweating it out in the cage, the contingent at present consisting largely of battery candidates getting the kinks out of their arms after the long cold winter. The fourth member of the team, Pete Estin, suffered a fractured pelvis when he came in violent contact with an extremely stationary tree in pre-meet practice.
