LETTERS WERE RECEIVED recently from two of the Tuck staff who are on leave for war work, namely, Professors Harriman and Frey.

Professor Harriman is now a lieutenant colonel in the division of Allied Military Government. Until recently he was Chief of the Finance Section of the SHEAF Mission to France, and was stationed in Paris. But he is now, with the crossing of the Rhine, probably somewhere in Germany.

Professor Frey is Deputy Director of the Surplus Property Office of the U. S. Treasury. In this capacity he has much of the responsibility in the disposition of billions of dollars of surplus war property in the consumers' goods category. If you need anything from a shoe-lace to a jeep, just get in touch with Al.

Professor Burleigh is also still on leave, and is serving as Director, Services Branch, WPB in Washington. We are happy to report that Nat will be back in Hanover ready to resume his teaching at the Tuck School in the term beginning July 1.

The faculty luncheon group spent an interesting two hours late in February with Theodore Shapleigh (D '23). He is a partner and manager of Hamilton's in New Haven, the leading women's apparel store of the city. Ted brought us up to date on the various problems which face the department store executive during these war years.

The Tuck Clearing House of the Greater Boston area is planning to hold a meeting in Boston sometime in April. Details on this will be announced later.

John F. Anderson D '34 is now Assistant Sales Promotion Manager of the Towmotor Corporation in Cleveland. One of the varied duties of his job is that of serving as editor of the quarterly magazine of the company, "Handling Materials," which is sent to over 20,000 business executives in the United States and abroad. Those of you who have seen a copy will agree, I am sure, that Andy is doing an outstanding job.

Robert M. Campbell T '42 was married to Mary Elizabeth Miller on March 3, 1945. Congratulations Bob!

Lt. E. F. McLaughlin Jr., USNR, D '42 wrote us a long letter the other day. He has been stationed at the Boston Navy Yard for several months after spending a couple of years in Pacific waters.

Lt. (jg) E. E. McCarthy, USNR, D '43 is on duty somewhere in the Pacific. He mentioned in his letter of having seen George Munroe D '43 and a number of other Tuck and Dartmouth men. All agree, he says, "that Hanover and all that goes with it has a worth which are only realized in part while we were there, and it will be the number one objective when we start wending our way homeward looking for a symbol of wholesome and peaceful living." Lt. A. J. Rosenthal, USNR, T '41 dropped in for a visit with us late in February. He has been on duty in the Mediterranean area most of the time, at first assigned to small boats, now on the operations staff.
