Due to the absence and time-consumingduties of our secretary, Ensign Hal Bowman,'46 has not been represented in the past fewmonths in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE. Feelingthat we should try to stick together in the absence and separation of so many of the class,I have undertaken the temporary duty ofwriting this column .... so here goes.
In starting, I believe we all join in offeringour deepest sympathy to the families of fourof our recently deceased classmates, all ofwhom died in war service .... Robert Boyd,William Cortright, Jewell Dilsaver, and JohnZuck.
Spring has come to Hanover and the past several weeks have been like mid-summer. Spring sports are just about ready to start their schedules, mid-term marks are coming up, and the greenness of the campus (minus the duckboards) is back again. The '46s still in Hanover are few and far between, compared to the six hundred strong that matriculated in 1942. The Medics (now in their second year) comprise the largest group. They are: Navy, Ed Attix, Bill Beaven, Milt Cooper, Wayne- Frerichs, Mel Johnson, Fred Richardson, Bert Schwartz, and George Vogt. Civilians: Bud Bennett, Chan Bowen, Jim Brod, Tom Burnap, Howie Hewitt (who did an excellent job as captain of last winter's ski team), Art Naitove, Bill Schillhammer, Bill Soule, Dave Stephenson, Ignatius Tickelis, Dick Turk, and Guy Van Syckle. In the V-12 unit (Navy) are Cal Gurney, Dave Nassif, and Bruce O'Brien (all down at Thayer School) and Ed Sly. Carl Peterson and Carl McKinnon are both back in the Marine Unit after extended duty elsewhere; the latter did a bang-up job as guard on the football team last fall and should be one of Jeff Tesreau's catchers this spring. The following '46s are here as civilian students—Matt Gately, Dick Howe, Larry Weisman, Joe Clain, Bob Kimball (all discharged vets), Don Millians, Ray Berry, Frank Carlton, Hal MacCartney, Duncan Gibson, Dick Price and Tom Gillaugh. Saul Nirenburg, Dick Dunnavan, Ben Moats, and Bill Wallis are all down at Tuck School as civilians.
Green Key has been revised to a certain extent and our representatives are Dick How, Bob Kimball, and Dick Price.
