AT THE FIRST civilian Commencement exercises held at Dartmouth since May, 1942, President Hopkins presented diplomas on April a to 39 students who had completed the College's requirements for degrees and who were still in Hanover. The brief, informal exercises were held in the Faculty Room of Parkhurst Hall and Dean Neidlinger presided.

Following, the exercises, a reception and buffet supper were held in Thayer Hall.

The Master of Arts degree was con- ferred on one candidate, Spencer L. Baird Jr. '44, Hanover, N. H.; 21 received Bachelor of Arts degrees; three, Bachelor of Science degrees; and 14 were awarded the two-year medical certificate.

Diplomas were mailed to men who had completed their degree requirements but were not in Hanover at the time of the Commencement.
