Legacy to College
August 1945

GEORGE M. DAVIDSON of the Class of 1880, who died in May, has left Dartmouth College a share in his estate, the funds to be used "for the development and maintenance of research and instruction in industrial chemistry" at the College. The exact amount which the College will receive has not been stated, as yet.

Mr. Davidson, formerly with the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, was a well-known chemist and engineer. He established the second railroad laboratory in the United States for the Chicago and Northwestern line and was noted among other things for his work in the treatment of water for railroad and industrial purposes.
