IN RETURNING to these columns for the first time in many a moon, we would like to bring to the attention of all visiting alumni the fact that we have weekly, informal luncheons every Thursday at the 321 Olive St. Buffet. Don't let the formality of the front barroom dismay you; we'll all be in the back room. And the food is good! In addition, we would like to call the attention of all alumni, especially in surrounding Missouri and Illinois communities, to our annual Christmas luncheon to be held at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, December 27, at 12 noon. You are heartily encouraged to bring with you any prospective undergraduates.

The fall and winter season of regular monthly smokers got under way in October, with the first meeting being held at the home of Landon Martin '41, The yearly election of officers went along smoothly resulting in the unanimous election of Bill Rench '33, president: Ernie Grinnell '42, vice-president and chairman of the social committee, Landon Martin '41, secretary and John McCarthy '43, treasurer. Tom Curtis '32 was appointed chairman of the committee to investigate applicants for a four-year scholarship.

This scholarship is known as The Clark Schmidt Memorial Scholarship, a Missouri regional scholarship. Started last winter by the St. Louis Dartmouth Alumni Club, the scholarship is dedicated to the memory of one of Dartmouth's and St. Louis' first heroes of World War II who gave his life for his country Clark Schmidt, Class of 1933. A truly great inspiration to any successful recipient of this scholarship!

It is suggested that any alumnus, knowing of promising and deserving boys wishing to go to Dartmouth who come from the Missouri region, should make their applications to the College, or to Tom Curtis, for this scholarship.

Returning to club news, we would like to also announce that there will be a meeting, probably in the form of a dinner, sometime in January, to allow all nearby alumni to meet personally with President Dickey. As soon as we learn President Dickey's definite plans, complete arrangements will be made. It is suggested that all nearby alumni keep in touch with anyone they might know in St. Louis so as to be sure not to miss this very interesting event. If you would like to get on the St. Louis Club's mailing list, drop a note to Landon Martin, 22 Joy Ave., Webster Groves, 19, Mo.
