George P. Drowne Jr. '33 has been appointed executive director of the newly organized New Hampshire Citizens' Council for the General Welfare, a pioneer enterprise for coordinating state recreation and health activities. Formerly general field representative for the Red Cross in New York and Massachusetts, and later administrative assistant director of insular and foreign operation, Mr. Drowne has had a wide experience in organizing and planning varied types of welfare work. The aims of this New Hampshire Council are to set up a better human welfare program in the State, through a planning body which will investigate and improve conditions of health and recreation. Mr. Drowne will direct a survey and study of existing conditions, education of the public, and coordination of welfare services throughout the State. During the war he served as lieutenant commander in the Navy.
