PROFESSOR ED BROWN and myself attended the Annual Meeting of the Dartmouth Society of Engineers on January 18 in New York. The total attendance was 46, and whenever 46 Thayer School Alumni are gathered together, it is an occasion of no small moment. We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity of talking with old friends, especially as many of them have but recently returned from the far corners of the earth.

Several men have already signed up to return to Thayer School to finish their engineering course and a number of others are planning to do so. Binne Tower, formerly second lieutenant in the Marine Corps, visited Thayer School last month and will be back with us in March to study for his E.E. degree. Binne was in radio and radar with the Marines, having studied at M.I.T. while in the service.

Paul Breck '44 will also be back in March to complete his work for the C.E. degree. Paul has been in aircraft design with Lockheed. Hank Parker and Roy Stifler '45, classmates and recently discharged from the Marines, will also return in the spring term for their C.E. degrees. Men planning to return in October include Rog Simpter '43 still in the Navy at Pearl Harbor, but due for his discharge in March. Rog was married last August and will bring Mrs. Simpter to Hanover. Vic Smith '45 has applied from Guam for readmission in October. Vic is with CBMU 593 as a Public Works . Department officer. Lt. Warren Quimby '45, of the Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif., is also interested in returning in October. If you two read this column you will be interested in the prospect of getting back together again next fall in Hanover.

Buff Williams and Don Amy '43 were in Hanover in January. Buff was on terminal leave then, having served in the Pacific as engineer officer on a destroyer. Don is still in the Navy. I do not know what his present duty is, but is something less strenuous than the underwater demolition work he was doing previously.

Dick Rice '44 writes us that he is at Cherry Point, N. C., and is assistant maintenance superintendent in the Public Works Department. Dick is due for discharge sometime in the summer and is applying for admission to M I T. where he will study for his M.S. degree.

Dick Tousley .'42 has been discharged from the Navy. Dick and his wife visited Hanover the latter part of January and spent some time skiing in the White Mountains before reporting to work with Charles T. Main, Boston. Jack Devor and wife joined the Tousleys for some skiing at Franconia Notch. Jack has been with the CEC and saw duty in the Aleutians. The Devors were accompanied by Thor, a notorious Thayer School character, being the only dog ever to complete the engineering course.
