The current speed-up in mobilization has resulted in a considerable number of active duty orders for members of the class, in addition to those previously mentioned. Ray Merrick is on leave of absence from the Merrick Lumber Co in Holyoke, Mass., and is presently stationed at the General Stores Supply Office in Philadelphia as a Lieutenant in the Navy. The Navy also put the finger on TomBurrell and he is back on duty as a Lieutenant at the Ist Naval District, with wife Eliza- beth and their three children keeping their home in Westport Point, Mass.

Maybe things are different now, but AlMeyer, stationed at Little Creek Amphibious Base, really has my sympathies. Before his recall, Al was Administrative Assistant at Prudential Insurance Cos. in Newark and lived in Chatham, N. J. He's keeping his home and under the present set-up gets home for about a week-end a month. Jim Pringle just returned to active duty and is Electronics Officer for the Naval Operating Base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Jim is a Lieutenant and was able to take his wife Gwen and son Alec to Cuba with him.

Bill Buckley was called by the Army in the middle of January as a Ist Lieutenant, but gives no details as to where he is now located. Rog Baird has been living in Omaha as Dis- trict Representative for an electronics firm, but again at the request of Uncle Sugar, is back in the Air Force. Ed Searles has also got his orders from the Air Force, but at the present time has a 90-day delay in reporting. Ed and his wife Ann have recently adopted a baby boy Ed III, which is very fine news indeed.

Via Dick Varey we have word that AndyRuoff is in the Army as a Major and has just been transferred from Camp Edwards to Fort Bragg, N. C. Dick is living in Laconia and operates the "Swedish Village," a summer resort on Lake Winnipesaukee, has a daughter Deborah, age seven, with number two child expected momentarily.

Under the headline, "Jensen Stresses Accomplishments of School Board," we learn that Harold H. "Red" Jensen Jr. is a candidate for re-election to the Hampden, Conn., School Committee. According to the article, Red is a Navy veteran, has three boys, and believes he can do a better job during the next three years. A copy of the 1950 report is available for any of Red's many friends who may be interested in checking up on him. Over in Jersey, Ken Curtis, representing the Industrial Department of the National Association of Manufacturers, was the guest speaker at the dinner meeting of the Executive Club of the Oranges. Since graduation Ken has done labor relations and personnel work for several large firms prior to his present assignment with NAM.

Col. Dave Schilling was married to Miss Mary Eugenia Hunnicutt in the Boiling Field Air Force Base Chapel on February 10. Dave and his wife plan to make their home in Arlington, Va.

It seems that almost all the class doctors are having new additions to their families. The third boy for the Ernie Smiths arrived March 20 in Oakland, R. I., and has been named Jeffrey. Al Davidson writes from New Bern, N. C., of the birth of their first daughter Anne Austin on January 18, making three in all for the Davidsons. My old Newton neighbor Charlie Thompson now has three boys with the arrival of Wayne in February.

For those of the Boston brethren that take their lunch in Thompson's Spa you might like to know you do so through the courtesy of Eb Reynolds, the General Manager. Eb writes, "Spent three years in the Army, married a Scotch lass over there, then spent two years at Cornell learning the hotel and restaurant business. Since then have split the time between Thompson's Spa and the increasing number of tax exemptions. Occasionally see Dartmouth men in the restaurant. Am always good for coffee on the house anytime. All welcome."

Paul Dorsey writes from Milan, Tenn., that he has just taken over as manager of the Paper Box Co. in Louisville, Ky., and is now in the process of finding a home. You may have trouble finding a house, Paul, but just get yourself a television set and watch "Uncle Dick" Jackson over station WAVE.

Just to give you an idea as to how fast we get the news, we can now report that StanBrown won his campaign for state senator in New Hampshire last fall. We have quite a group in that part of the country and Stan sees most of them quite often including BillGreen, Fred Upton, George Hanna, Gus Zitrides,Pep Gray, Earl Dearborn and BobJones.... A nice note from Dr. Eddie Wells from Lynnfield Center, Mass., where he is practicing his specialty as a radiologist in association with several other doctors, tells of spending a week-end with Otis Mudge and his family of three at their home in nearby Ipswich. Dick Hobbs is another neighbor n Lynnfield but have no further details as to what he is doing... . Frank Davis is keeping everything well oiled and running smoothly over in Lynn as general salesman for Shell Oil Co. Claims the honor of a visit from Gulf competitor Harpo Walsh and his wife over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Bill McCarthy is on leave from his Dept. Manager spot with Macys, to attend Harvard Graduate School of Business for 13 weeks as a member of the Advanced Management program. About 150 men from business and industry are present and Mac expects to be back at Macys by the end of May.... Always flattered to hear from the gals, and Al Hazen's wife Lenore came through with news of Al's new job as civil engineer with the Milwaukee Railroad. Started on March 5 and plans to move the family from Auburn, Me., to Minneapolis as soon as the housing problem can be solved.... Its been a long time in my book since we've had news of Woody Miller, but we have it this month, and from the deep south of Decatur, Ga. Woody gives his occupation as Drummer, and covers the South for the Lester Betsy Ross Spinet piano, has a daughter Susan, aged three... . Bob Harlan is in Chicago, vice-pres. of a retail department store. Says he's waiting to see what the Navy will want, and meanwhile fighting the battle of OPS orders, chicken pox and mumps on the home front.

In closing we would like to draw your attention to the 1951 Alumni Fund. Its importance to Dartmouth this year cannot be overemphasized. Do your part generously in keeping with your means.
