One of Hanover's most familiar figures, Albert E. Rogers '92, known to nearly everybody as "Scoop" in tribute to his long journalistic career and his nose for local news, was on the receiving end of congratulations September 6 when he reached the age of 80.

After a postgraduate turn at farming, book selling, and legal briefs, Mr. Rogers began his newspaper work in Newport, N. H., on the Argus-Spectator in 1912. After 15 years there as associate editor, he moved to Hanover in 1928 and became news editor and advertising director of the Hanover Gazette, under the late Frank A. Musgrove '99. When the Hanover weekly changed hands in 1933, Mr. Rogers was its editor and he still keeps a paternal eye on its news columns. In order to keep his hand in, Mr. Rogers since leaving the Gazette has been Hanover correspondent for the White River Junction Landmark.
