SAN DIEGO Dartmouth Alumni Association celebrated its second annual summer outing for members and their wives at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club on Saturday, August 9. Luncheon was served in the al fresco atmosphere of the Club's patio, and with 61 members and wives and parents present was the largest gathering ever held by this Association since its inception four years ago.
Parker Meade '22 again served most capably as General Chairman in charge of arrangements, and was assisted by an efficient committee composed of Robert S. Morris 'l2,Leonard R. Manley 'l3, and Howard M. Rowe '39.
Vance Dickerman, acting as Master of Ceremonies, introduced the President of the San Diego Alumni Association, Robert S. Morris 'l2, and also Harry W. MacKinnon 'O2, representing the oldest class present. He awarded the class attendance prize to the Class of 1931 with three members present, and presented the mileage medal to Warren Currier 'OB, of El Centro, California, as the member of the local association coming from the greatest distance.
Parker Meade, who is also a Director of the San Diego Musical Merit Foundation, presented two of this year's award winners,Barbara Wenman, pianist, and Walter Ekard, baritone. A surprise duo rhythmic swimming exhibition by Betty Hansen and Pat Dunlap in the Club's patio pool closed the entertainment program.
A closer and unexpected bond with Hanover was provided by the attendance of DavidChalmers '46, of Denver, Colorado; EdwinMiller '47, of South Laguna, California; JohnR. Crowe '47, of La Jolla, Calif.; and Bob Slattery '47, of Montpelier, Vermont, who provided recent news from the College for us. Other out-of-town alumni present with their wives were Arthur E. Gordon '23, Berkeley, Calif.; and Robert S. Morris Jr. '36 of Pasadena, Calif.

The regular monthly dinner meetings of the San Diego Alumni Association will be resumed on October 1. These are always held the first Wednesday of each month.
