THE MAINE Association had one of its most successful meetings in some time, in point of numbers, on "Dartmouth Night" this year. The meeting was still more noteworthy in that 11 of the 32 present traveled twenty miles or more in order to be present. The Graymore Hotel was the scene of the gathering, and after a very fine dinner, football movies provided by the DCAC through the Dartmouth Film Service were shown.
Last year a committee composed of TomFoster '10, Lawrence Eastman 'l9, and ErnestWhite '05 were appointed to consider the Maine Association's Scholarship Fund, means of increasing it, and the method of using it. The Committee's recommendations, which were accepted, are briefly as follows: There will be no drive among the Maine alumni this year for our Scholarship Fund, so as not to conflict with the Hopkins Center Project; all surplus of dues over current expenses are to be turned over to the Fund; and starting fairly soon the principal of the fund will be used as loans for needy Maine boys. Another committee composed of M. G. Howland '15, Lawrence Eastman '19, Thomas Maynard '29, and Arthur Seepe '31 was appointed by President Ted Johnson to administer these loans in cooperation with the college officials at Hanover. It was also voted to transfer the current balance of slightly over $27.00 in the dues account to the Scholarship Fund.
