THE Annual Banquet of the -Cleveland Club was held last month with a very inspiring talk given by Dean "Pudge" Neidlinger. He reaffirmed the College's stand in the liberal arts, where we enjoy a leading position, stating that Dartmouth more than ever is committed to a curriculum of giving boys a broad training for facing life with some grasp of its underlying principles. He also described the unrelenting pressure under which the faculty has been working since 1940 with enlarged enrollment, no summer rests, and difficulties in teaching a mixed-up student body composed of classes stretching over almost a decade. Twenty-year-old seniors sit beside married twenty-five-year-old sophomores, and the old class spirit is gone. At the conclusion, many who had thought of "Pudge" as simply a regular guy had additional respect for him as a master orator.

The 101 alumni who attended the banquet (getting over snow and ice, and past the bar) were as follows: E. R. Gardner 11 , C. A. Hope '11, J. H. Field '14, F. R. Andrews '16, W. P. Costello '16, C. N. We might have a Glee Club Concert and dance in early April, but don't count on it until the committee reaches a decision. We understand that the College Glee Club is obtainable about that time, and if it can be arranged, it should be a highlight of the year.

Our genial Alumni Council member for this area, Edouard "Bud" Petrequin '25, attended the meeting in Chicago in late January, and at the Friday luncheon on the 31st he gave us some of the "personal sidelights" of his experiences leaving us feeling grateful that he was "mustered out" for the main events.

A "Wah-Hoo" for Bob Swander '33, who, following active military service, has rejoined the Central National Bank, and has been made manager of their Chagrin Falls Branch; and the same for Bob Palmer '34, who is about to be manager of the new Euclid, Ohio, Branch of the. same bank. Short of "change," boys?

AMONG THOSE PRESENT at one of the alumni luncheons held in Cleveland every Friday at the Mid-day Club were the above members of the Tribe.
