IN LAST MONTH'S column this correspondent reported the activities during the visit of President Dickey to St. Louis. There has since come to our attention a very interesting fact of which we here in St. Louis can be justly proud. As the direct result of intelligent planning by present leaders of the St. Louis together with the very helpful cooperation of one alumnus' father, President Dickey was able to meet personally with some of the leading business men of St. Louis. As a result of this meeting, we understand that Dartmouth became the recipient of an outstanding gift from a man who was not even present at that meeting. In other words, we have direct and tangible evidence of the goodwill created by a get-together that was primarily intended to enable local men to become better acquainted with those who "head up" Dartmouth. We believe that this marks the beginning of the growing role which St. Louis will play in helping Dartmouth meet the new and larger problems of the future.
The February smoker, held at the home of Boyd Rogers '35, brought the news that HerbWest will visit us in April. Hence, we will have an extra special smoker in that month so that all the local lads can renew old acquaintances with Herb. We are looking forward to hearing some of Herb's many tales. The place of the meeting will be announced to all local members by card as soon as the entertainment committee selects the locale.
A Wah Hoo Wah goes this month to RandyRodgers '31 who was recently elected president of the Alton Brick Cos., one of the largest manufacturers of brick in this part of the country.
