April 1947

THE central portion of the Public Opinionin a Democracy series, dealing with the main channels of public information and influence, is concluded this month with two articles about motion pictures, following those on the press and radio. The authors of the movie discussion, starting on Page 13, are Walter Wanger '15, noted producer, and Budd Schulberg '36, writer and erstwhile Hollywood critic.

Another April feature is an article about a forgotten Dartmouth man, General Charles E. Hovey '52, father of Dartmouth's poet laureate. Written by Prof. Allan Macdonald, it appears on Page 21. Stanley B. Jones '18 presents another sprightly chapter in his series on past bequests to the College (Page 28); Prof. Herbert W. Hill announces the line-up for the 1947 Hanover Holiday (Page 20); and a proposed new Dartmouth Reunion Plan is described on Pages 26-27.
