"I DON'T CARE HOW LONG since the College has had a glee club—if Don Cobleigh is still at the helm it will be a great concert!" So spoke Chuck Grant '39 and other members of his Glee Club Concert-Dance. Committee assented vigorously. So 600 (no more because there was no more room) Dartmouth men, wives and friends turned out at the Hall of Nations, Washington Hotel, on April Ist to see exactly how accurate the committee's statements were.
There is no question that neither Don Cobleigh nor the Dartmouth College Glee Club let anyone down. The added attraction of some fine dance music by the Meyer Davis ii-piece orchestra helped make this the most successful and pleasant Dartmouth Club of Washington party held in many, many years. The concert itself had us on the edges of our chairs from start to finish, which, incidentally came as a particular source of satisfaction to many in attendance who recalled the famous 1941 Club and their successful efforts at Carnegie Hall in the National Glee Club Concert sponsored by Fred Waring. Yes —a repeat performance was given of the ofttalked of "Choir Boy" number! Larry Reeves commented, "Every class from '89 to '50 is represented in the audience, and they're all having a good time!" That about summed up the party. Again, many thanks to Don Cobleigh, the Glee Club, Chuck Grant and committee for a swell evening.
And can you believe it? The Club is coming up with another gala event on May 8. President John Dickey will be our guest and speaker at the Annual Spring Dinner to be held at the Burlington Hotel—6:3o P.M. Lowell Haas '35 is committee chairman and insists President Dickey cannot be missed, especially when the program will also include two quartets, the first Washington showing of the College film "Green Flashback" and Washington's distinguished magician, Harry Baker. And all this for only $2.75. Again, can you it?
Lastly, a vote of confidence and thanks to our First Vice President, Mr. Percy H. Russell Jr. '29, who has done such an outstanding job as head of the committee which has interviewed more than 60 applicants for admission to Dartmouth this year.
