"Luther Stevens Oakes A Yankee From Vermont." On his 25th Anniversary as President of Winston Brothers Co., a beautifully printed bound volume of 182 pages was published in commemoration of the event by the company of which our Lute became President on April 6, 1921, succeeding William Overton Winston. The story, which is a beautiful example of typographic art, begins with his ancestral history and follows with a complete biography of the subject. It is richly illustrated and includes pictures of his parents, the ancestral home in Jericho, Vt., and scenes of the environment. His career at Windsor High School is narrated with a picture of the high school football team on which he played center. Then follows the story of his life at Dartmouth with numerous pictures of the college buildings, the campus, his freshman and senior class pictures, the Varsity football eleven of which he was a member and his picture as a member of the varsity track team; pictures of his fraternity brothers, etc. Also there are a number of pictures of his fam- ily life, including those of Mrs. Oakes and their children, Tom and Betty. Included is a history of his career as an engineer which should be a source of great pride to him as it is to us, whose respect and admiration he has had in high degree. Near the conclusion is this quatrain: The Company that he's guided, has won deserved acclaim. It has grown to noble stature because it played the game Both honestly and fairly, and played it smartly too, And, Luther, we are proud to say, "So much we owe to you!"
