This Month
RETURNING this month to its traditional Undergraduate Issue, the MAGAZINE invited Navy veteran Edward F. Eubanks '44 to do an article on the postwar student. His report, TheTired Veteran, starting on Page 13, is the result of close observation of his contemporaries and a thorough and detailed interview of members of the faculty and administration.
After what seemed to be years of interminable wrangling by the power interests and the Connecticut Valley farmers, the proposed building of a new Wilder Dam was officially approved last fall. Peter E. Costich '47, after considerable research on the subject, takes a look into the future to predict what the raising of the water level of the Connecticut will mean to Dartmouth. See A River Campus? on Page 19.
A profile-interview with the new and youthful Dean of the Faculty is another feature of the issue. It has been written by John P. Stearns '49, managing editor of The Dartmouth, whose summary of the career and views of Prof. Donald H. Morrison will be found under Faculty Helmsman, Page 23.

The Cover As many of you will remember, there is no nicer and more relaxing thing than stretching out on the lawn in front of Dartmouth Row between classes. Adrian Bouchard catches those few minutes of relaxation for you on this month's cover.
