IN ACCORDANCE WITH preliminary recommendations of the Staff Survey Committee appointed April 1 to examine the staff salary structure and other conditions of employment, President Dickey on June 6 announced new minimum salary levels for such employees of the College, effective July 1. He also announced that in view of the heavy loads carried in recent years, all staff members employed on a full-time basis since July 1945 would receive three weeks' vacation this summer instead of the usual two.
In a memorandum to all staff members, Piesident Dickey stated that the survey committee, headed by Donald W. Cameron '35 and including Profs. Bancroft H. Brown and Herman Feldman, would continue their study and bring in a full report in the fall. At that time the committee is expected to submit a complete job analysis and classification, and to make further recommendations about salaries pension privileges, and an improved personnel procedure.
Effective July 1, the minimum salary for staff members of the Library became $1,320 per year and for staff members in all other departments of the College, $1,380. This is a temporary differential until vacations are further studied.
In addition, staff members of both the Library and other departments who were receiving $1,320 were increased to $1,380 per year, and those receiving $1,380 were increased to $1,440.
NEW COUNCIL MEMBER: Osmun Skinner '28, class secretary, has been elected to the Alumni Council for a term of three years as a representative of the Dartmouth Secretaries Association.
