AN EIGHT-WEEK SUMMER session for students „ accelerating their college courses will open on Monday, July 14, and extend through September 10. It will be the sixth and last of the summer terms which Dartmouth started in 1942 as part of the wartime and postwar speed-ups.
This summer's enrollment will be small, numbering between 425 and 450 men. Of this total, about 35 will be veterans resuming their Dartmouth studies after military service. Only about a fourth of the faculty will be required for teaching duties this summer, and the majority will be enjoying their first full vacation in a number of years.
The regular fall semester will open on October 3. Enrollment is then expected to reach its peak,-with advance figures indicating that the maximum of 3,000 men set by the Trustees will be slightly exceeded. A freshman class of full size will matriculate next fall for the first time since 1941.
