NEAR THE END of last semester, seniors in the Great Issues Course heard a lecture on World Government, presented by Thomas K. Finletter, lawyer, former Special Assistant to the Secretary of State, and more recently in the news as Chairman of the President's Air Policy Commission. It was one of the most provocative and successful lectures since the start of the course, and the MAGAZINE is pleased to be able to print it in full this month, beginning on Page 11.
The second half of Prof. L. B. Richardson's summary of the Robert Fletcher diaries, recently presented to the College, will be found on Pages 17 to 20. The first half appeared in January and, like this month's installment, described Hanover life from 1871 to 1934 as recorded daily by the first head of the Thayer School.
The program for this June's Hanover Holiday is announced by Prof. Herbert W. Hill, director, on Page 15; and a written and pictorial description of last month's Winter Carnival will be found on Pages 21 to 23.

The Cover On a sub-zero morning in Hanover everyone looks at the smokestack to tell how cold it really is. If the lookers see what Adrian Bouchard has captured in his early-morning cover picture, they feel reassured that their thermometers must be right after all—and there have been lots of mornings this winter when the smokestack looked just like that.
