Dartmouth Night
June 1948

Palaeopitus, after consulting with President Dickey, has chosen Friday, October 15, for the 1948 observance of Dartmouth Night. The Hanover celebration, serving as the hub of a nationwide gathering of Dartmouth alumni clubs, will be combined with a campus rally the night before the Colgate football game. Dartmouth Night, one of the College's greatest traditions, has been observed without a break since its establishment in 1895. It was started by President William Jewett Tucker as a means of welcoming the new freshman class into the Dartmouth fellowship, and over the years it has grown into its present status of an occasion when Dartmouth men everywhere gather to reaffirm their loyalty to the College.
