In spite of weeping skies, typical of the New England weather we have been enjoying for more than a month, approximately seventy-five Dartmouth Alumni and their families gathered Saturday afternoon, June 5, at five o'clock on the grounds of the Noble & Greenough School in Dedham.

The occasion was the inauguration of the first annual Dartmouth "Hum" sponsored jointly by the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Boston, the Charles River Dartmouth Club, and the Dartmouth Women's Club of Boston.

Inclement weather forced the group to meet indoors in the gymnasium, but at six o'clock the sun broke through sufficiently to warrant the gathering continuing their festivities outside. This project, planned and worked on for a long time by Bill Perry, secretary of the Boston Association, proved highly successful. Bill's local alumni Barbary Coast Orchestra furnished instrumental music, and Harry McDevitt's alumni glee club furnished vocal music—both Dartmouth songs and other popular glee club numbers.

A good time was had by all, members having brought along their picnic suppers and whatever liquid beverage they desired. It is expected that another year, with a little more favorable treatment from the weatherman, this type of get-together will turn out an even larger group of local Dartmouths.
