THE APPOINTMENTS of three assistant professors, one associate professor, 19 instructors, four teaching fellows and two research assistants were approved at the June 12 meeting of the Board of Trustees.
New assistant professors are Carl A. Moritz of Kansas City, Mo., geology; Ray E. Keesey, Columbus, Ohio, speech; and Edward D. Gruen '31 of Cincinnati, Ohio, finance and statistics, Tuck School. Comdr. John H. Turner, USN, has been named Associate Professor of Naval Science and Lt. Comdr. Frederick J. Johnston, USN, has been appointed instructor in naval science.
New instructors added to the faculty starting with the fall semester are: Mark L. Peisch '47 of Norwich, Vt., art; Leonard E. Morrisey of Hanover, economics; Albert S. Anthony of Cambridge, Mass., education; James F. Beard of Princeton, N. J., Donald L. Cross and Harry T. Schultz '37, both of Cambridge, Mass., Edward F. Grier of Philadelphia, Pa., and Jerome Taylor of Chicago, Ill., English; Douglas G. Dickson of Upper Montclair, N. J., mathematics.
Also, Edgar Everhart of Cambridge, Mass., and Frank L. Moore of Princeton, N. J., physics; Albert L. Hastorf of Princeton, N. J., psychology; Robert Gutman of New York, N. Y., sociology; Toge S. K. Johansson of Grinnell, lowa, and Duncan L. McDonald of Oxford, Eng., zoology.
At the Medical School William T. Mosenthal '3B of Upper Montclair, N. J., has been appointed instructor in clinical surgery and Stuart W. Russell of Kalamazoo, Mich., has been named instructor in orthosurgery. Robert E. Keane '47 of Summit, N. J., has been appointed instructor in civil engineering at Thayer School.
New teaching fellows are Vincent E. Kurtz of Minneapolis, Minn., geology, and Kent Curtis of New Haven, Conn., Donald Pratt of Orono, Me., and Joseph C. Smith '4B of Hanover, physics. Richard Barnes and James W. Meyer, both of Madison, Wise., have been named research assistants in physics.
WILLIAM J. MINSCH 'O7 who retired last month as Alumni Trustee. During his two five-year terms Mr. Minsch attended all meetings of the board.
