In July our classmate Professor EmeritusIssac J. Cox and Mrs. Cox celebrated the 50th anniversary of their marriage. Bearing gifts and flowers, about two hundred former associates and students of Northwestern University came from all parts of the country to properly observe this event. During his thirty years at the University the Cox home was a gathering place for all connected with that Institution.
Professor and Mrs. Cox met in Texas in 1896 and were married in Cleveland, Ohio in 1899. Mrs. Cox, a University graduate, was of great assistance to him in his historical research. Since his retirement he has served as visiting professor at Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge, and at Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas.
Our classmate Dr. Arthur L. Jones died at Biddeford, Me. on August 8. Arthur came to Dartmouth from Farmington, N. H. and graduated with our class in 1896. He received his M.D. from Bowdoin Medical School and practiced at Old Orchard Beach, Me. for 30 years until his retirement in 1939.
Active in this town's political affairs, he served as Selectman, Assessor, Overseer of the Poor, Town Treasurer, Superintendent of Schools and Trustee of the Public Library., He was well known in Masonic circles and the 1.0.0.F. and was a member of York County and the State Medical Association. He leaves two sons, Roger M. of New York and Lee F. of Old Orchard Beach.
Tom Ham has moved from Marblehead to 135 Park Avenue, Arlington, Mass.
