The Dartmouth Club of the North Country, organized a year ago by alumni in northern New Hampshire and northeastern Vermont, held its second annual meeting at Thayer's Hotel in Littleton, N. H., on June 9. The enthusiasm and good-fellowship of the occasion gave evidence that the Club is surviving its growing pains. "Doc" RalphJones '26, of Whitefield. N. H., retiring President, officiated at the dinner session.
The guest speaker was Coach "Tuss" McLaughry who illustrated his talk with movies of the 1948 football season. Headmaster DickHeneage '38, of Whitefield, discussed the possibility of boys attending Dartmouth via the scholarship route.
The following were elected officers and members of the Executive Committee for the present year: George E. Clark '17, Lisbon, N. H., President, Charles S. Holbrook '24, Gorham, N. H., Vice-President, Martin A.Brown Jr. '36, Lincoln, N. H„ Treasurer, Francis G. Moulton '20, Littleton, N. H., Secretary; and Ambrose P. McLaughlin 28, Littleton, N. H., Thomas B. Farwell '26, Wells River, Vt., Harford A. Nay '23, Lancaster, N. H., and James H. Woods '28, St. Johnsbury, Vt., members of the executive committee.
Much to the regret of all the Alumni hereabouts Pete McLane was unable to continue as Secretary because of the change of his residence to Manchester. Pete did such fine work in organizing the Club that it is most regrettable that he cannot keep up the good work.
Among those at the head table was Supreme Court Justice Amos N. Blandin Jr. 'l8, Bath, N. H. Among the guests was Paul W. Glover, also of Bath, father of Paul W. GloverJr. '45.
