LUNCHEON MEETING Monday Noon Town Club, Milwaukee
The most surprising thing about the baseball game between the oldsters and the youngsters at our annual picnic was not the score —we old ones won, 11-5—but the fact that so many youngsters called themselves oldsters.
Again Ed Luedke volunteered the use of his spacious log cabin and grounds for our picnic this year on August 27. Just being given a vote of thanks does not adequately express our appreciation.
We missed the guitar playing of CharlesSchweoland who sort of emceed last years peerade and provided lots of entertainment. A picnic never progresses to far into the evening-nor did this one—without singing, and the closer you got to it the better it sounded.
The Dartmouth Club o£ Wisconsin goes on record to say that it is extremely sorry to hear that our good friend and past-president, Jack Ryan '11, is in the hospital after a serious operation. We hope that his recovery will be certain and soon.
The festivities at the picnic were interrupted momentarily and with difficulty by a business meeting which involved the election of the following new officers: Henry Orth '27, President; Tom Trump '41, Vice President; Reginald Nelson '41, Secretary; GeoresHayssen '42, Treasurer; Jim Heller '46, Ass't Sec. & Treas.
Your ex-secretary carted along a trunk full of papers, books, and various records to unload, but no such luck—the new secretary was not there. And in the interest of meeting the deadline I said that I would drop a few lines to the ALUMNI MAGAZINE. So with a little tinge of nostalgia because of the many compensations and love of working for Dartmouth on the one hand, and an unburdening of particular responsibilities on the other, I do say my fond farewell. Working for a cause makes you become even more interested in that cause, so with new men in there pitching I am sure that the Wisconsin Association will continue to be an old faithful in everything for Dartmouth. .
