For his original play, Ribbon Bow, Robert C. MacLeod '46 has received the $500 Playwriting Award for 1948-9 by the Yale Department of Drama. A playwriting major at Yale, he started his graduate work there in 1948 after completing a musically active career at Dartmouth.
A Dartmouth production called FliesTake Off Backwards merited first honors for his fraternity, Delta Tau Delta, in the 1948 intrafraternity play contest. Several of his other one-act plays were presented by campus organizations in his undergraduate years. Ribbon Bow, which he wrote during his course under Prof. Lemist Esler, is being considered for production this coming season by the Yale Drama Department.
MacLeod, a 26-year-old infantry veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart, is on leave of absence from Yale to receive further medical treatment for his war injuries. His home is in Pelham Manor, N. Y.
