The pupils of Coach Noyes continued their victorious seasonal march against Harvard, on the same weekend as the football excusion to the Stadium. Captain Stan Waterman led the 18-44 rout the Crimson, continuing his unbeaten record in dual meets throughout his college career. Clendon of Dartmouth took second, followed by one lone Harvard in third place. Then came Anderson, Smiley, McSorley, and Daniell of the Green, in that order, to sew up a highly satisfactory victory for Dartmouth.

In an encounter marked by Captain Stan Waterman's breaking of his own record for the Dartmouth course (in 28:56.5), the all-around balance of a Yale squad was too great for the Green, who were defeated by the narrow margin of 26-30. With Waterman running well in front, Yale came in second, third, fourth, and sixth, and sophomore George Clendon of Dartmouth ran in the fifth spot. Following the Yale runner in sixth place, came Anderson, Richardson, Smiley, and McSorley of Dartmouth in that order for 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th places. This was not quite enough, however, and the Green runners were forced to bow for the first time this year in dual competition, despite the superb performance of Captain Waterman.

This pattern was repeated the following week, tar above Cayuga's waters, when Cornell decisively defeated the Green runners by the score of 20-38. Again Captain Waterman ran first, and again the enemy packed in enough runners after him to win the meet. Cornell took the next five places after the number one performance of Waterman. Then came Smiley of Dartmouth in 7th place, then Cornell 8th and 9th, and then Clendon of the Green 10th. What with the cold (31 degrees), the rain, the snow, the mud, and the defeat, this was an unhappy afternoon for Coach Noyes' charges.

In the Heptagonals at New York the following Saturday the Green harriers finished ninth among the ten teams competing. Stan Waterman, defending his in- dividual title, finished third behind two Army runners, although he bettered last year's time by 40 seconds. The absence of Sam Daniell and Ken Anderson handicapped Dartmouth in this 5-mile grind, which is test enough for any team at full strength. All the Green entrants went the distance, with Clendon, Smiley, Richardson, McSorley and Walsh finishing in that order behind Captain Waterman.
