THE LEAD ARTICLE this month is by Professor Bruce Knight of the Economics Department. Feeling strongly that "the greatest issue" facing the nation today is the pseudo-liberalism of the welfare planners, he has stated this personal point of view in unvarnished and highly readable style. Professor Knight's article begins on Page 15.

An important announcement for all Dartmouth men is the formation of the new Dartmouth Development Council, which is setting to work to raise the funds needed by the College on many fronts. For a description of the Council's objectives and personnel see the story beginning on Page 21.

Charles L. Youmans '20, who has carried on what he describes as "thirty years' courtship of the Spanish language," describes his experience with that delightful tongue in a short article, It's An Old Spanish Custom ofSpeech. This avowal of linguistic love will be found on Page 28.

Football has been king during November and the highlights of a thrilling month, climaxed by the victory over Cornell, will be found in a Green Teams section that begins on Page 30 and contains more winning words and pictures than usual.
