Election contests in two of the seven Alumni Council Districts of the country will be decided by mail ballot this spring. In the New England States (District I) three nominees for a vacancy on Alumni Council are: James E. Robertson '20 of Portland, Me.; Douglas N. Everett '26 of Concord, N. H.; and Dr. Andrew J. Oberlander '26 of Montpelier, Vt. In each case of the candidacy has been proposed by the alumni club of the area. The vacancy is caused by expiration June 30 of the second and final term of John G. Nelson '13 of Manchester, N. H.
In the Middle Atlantic States (District II) Mosher S. Hutchins '17 of Rochester and William G. Morton '28 of Syracuse will appear on the ballot to determine the successor to Hugh A. Johnson '30 of Buffalo whose second term on the Council expires June 30.
Three present members of the Alumni Council have been renominated for the customary second term of two years, without contest, as follows: Charles B. Rice '23 of Hartford, Robert C. Borwell '25 of Chicago, and George J. Winger '25 of Kansas City.
In the process of filling other vacancies on the Council coming up in June seven new members have been nominated without contest for first terms of two years. These new Councillors were declared elected by Sidney C. Hayward '26, Secretary of the General Association of Alumni, when nominations closed March 10. They are, with the name of the present member whose second and final term on the Council is expiring this spring in each case: District II: Nichol M. Sandoe '19 of New York City, succeeding Roswell Magill '16 of New York City.
District IV: Richard A. Walker '28 of Omaha, succeeding Francis A. Robinson '08 of Des Moines; and Stephen A. Osborn '27 of St. Paul, succeeding Arthur S. Dunning '11 of St. Paul.
District V: Richard P. White '18 of Washington, D. C., succeeding Frederick L. Pearce '15 of Washington; and Robert W. Pierce '15 of Miami, succeeding William H. Marsh Jr. '31 of Atlanta.
District VI: John M. Cunningham '18 of Denver succeeding Merrill E. Shoup 'a 1 of Colorado Springs.
District VII: W. Murray Hawkins '19 of Los Angeles, succeeding Walter D. Douglas 2nd '31 of Los Angeles.
In Districts I and II where mail elections will be held to determine new members of the Alumni Council, ballots will be sent to all graduates of the College in the areas concerned about the middle of April and polls will close in Hanover June 10.
