The Dartmouth Outing Club of New York lost possession of the New York City InterClub Trophy to the Amateur Ski Club of New York at Jiminy Peak, Williamstown. Mass., on Feb. 19-20. The final accounting was ASC: 381 1/5, DOCNY: 383 4/5.
In a field of 99 competitors from seven New York ski clubs, Jack Tobin '42, captain of the DOCNY team, defending the Palmedo Trophy for the individual combined championship, was nosed out by Thor Nedberg of the Norway Ski Club. Other DOCNY team members finished as follows: T. B. Ripsom '37—Bth, MaruChandler '32—10th, Ben Moats '46—18th, Warren Fly tin '38—32nd. Bill Gray '42 lost a ski in the slalom and was unable to finish.
The Erik Sand Memorial Trophy, presented by the DOCNY to the winner of the Veterans Combined, went to Matt Nuttila of the New York Ski Club.
This year's races were the 11th of a series starting in 1937 and had the largest field of entries. The DOCNY sponsored the meet with Warren Flynn as race committee chairman.
At a get-together in Williamstown over the week-end were the following members of the Club: Mr. & Mrs. Dick Holton '18 and daughter Mary Louise; Mr. & Mrs. Marv Chandler '32; Bleecker Ripsom '37; Mr. & Mrs. Jack Tobin '42; Bill Gray '42; R. J. Emsler '42; Ben Moats '46 and W. G. Flynn '38.
The DOCNY will send a team of Chandler, Tobin, Moats, Glover and Charlie McLane '41 to the Hochgebirge race at Franconia later in the month, and will compete against the Amateur Ski Club in an individual race since the difference in time in the Inter-Club meet was so close.
