A large group of 53's were in attendance at both the Harvard and Yale games. We were blessed with beautiful weather both weekends. While we couldn't match last year's undefeated team, we did provide plenty of exciting football.
Dr. Ed Knapp has been appointed a research specialist by the Monsanto Company in recognition of his technical achievements. Ed has a doctor of philosophy degree from Penn. State. John Springer, associate administrator of Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, was awarded membership in the American College of Hospital Administrators. The College was organized in 1933 to elevate standards of hospital administration.
I recently read about the adventures of Captain Stew Matthews in Viet Nam. Stew flew 110 photo-reconnaissance missions on three tours of duty. He had the distinction of being the first known target over North Viet Nam for the Russian SAM (Surface-to-Air Missile). Fortunately, he was able to take evasive action. Stew is now stationed at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina.
Bob Henderson has been promoted to marketing vice president of the Electronic Data Processing Division of Honeywell, Inc. in Wellesley Hills, Mass. He will direct a 2000-person computer sales and support organization that oerates from 70 commercial and Federal sales offices throughout the United States. Bob started with Honeywell in 1960. He has been field marketing director the past two years and before that served as branch manager in New York and central regional sales director.
Northwestern National Bank of Minneapolis announced the promotion of DaveCost to assistant vice president in the commercial department. Dave joined Northwestern in 1963 after being associated with Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco. BobLambert has been appointed head of the Personal Checking Account Division at The Northern Trust Company Bank in Chicago. Bob joined the bank in 1959. He and his wife, Mary Anne, live in Glen Ellyn and have three children.
Tufts University announced the creation of a new post, business officer, and named John Mitchell to fill it. John returns to Tufts after 15 months as controller at Wesleyan University. He will be responsible for budget formulation and the operation of the personnel, grounds and buildings, and dining hall departments. John and his wife, Jean, live in Winchester with their four children.
I had a nice note from Joan Reed on behalf of her husband Tim. They just marked their fifth birthday in Venezuela where Tim is with First National City Bank. They just moved to Maracaibo where Tim is managing the bank's branch. Previously he had been assistant manager in Caracas. Joan and Tim have five children ranging in age from one to ten. All of their children have lived more than half of their lives overseas. Joan says they love their life and aren't about to trade it for suburbia.
Frank and Mary Casalaveri had their first son, Kevin Boland, on October 12.
Paul Paganucci was married to the former Marilyn McLean in Portland, Me., on September 10. Marilyn is a graduate of Simmons College and a member of the staff of Rockefeller Family and Associates. Ushers included Bob Callender, Bill Vitalis, John Corcoran, John Kingsland, Fred Whittemore, Bill Johnson, Dick Lombard, Charlie Fleet, and Bob Malin. From what I hear Maine may never recover from the wedding.
