On Saturday evening. January 22, 73 members and guests of the Dartmouth College Alumni Association of San Diego and Imperial Counties sat down to dinner at the La Jolla Country Club. It was by far the largest group we have yet had for such a gathering, and the evening started off, and continued until its close, with a fine spirit of good fellowship.

The guests began arriving by 7 and for an hour enjoyed cocktails in the main lounge of the club where an open fire contributed its part to the charm of the setting. John Muchemore '43 loaned for the occasion records of Dartmouth songs by the Glee Club and these were played with the group joining in.

President Parker W. Meade '22 gave the signal to be seated for dinner soon after 8 and the U-shaped table was filled to its seating capacity. It wasn't long before Harry MacKinnon '02, Chairman of the Committee on Arrangements, was making his way around the table making sure eveyone was acquainted. In the short break between dinner and dessert Vance Dickerman '31, Master of Ceremonies, did the honors with a general welcome and a nod of acknowledgement to the guests of honor, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thrall '06 Vance called on President Meade who asked that all fathers of Dartmouth men stand up for a bow and a word of greeting. He thanked Mrs. Robert Morris for her assistance in arranging the beautiful table decorations and Mrs. Dickerman for serving as chairman of the ladies reception committee.

Among the committe on arrangements was listed Eleazar Wheelock and it was with anticipation that the group waited to see who this might be. In acknowledging the work of the committee, Parker Meade used this name as a cue to suggest that the group stand and sing the Eleazar Wheelock song, which was done with gusto.

During this period Bill Knibbs, Vice President of the Alumni group outlined plans for a spring get-to-gether at El Centro under the sponsorship of Warren Currier '08.

Dick Sankey '31, chairman of the entertainment committee, took over with the announcement that motion pictures from Hanover would be shown. For a lighter touch, the program included a humorous snowshoe relay race, around the room and over obstacles. By 11 the party came to a natural close amidst the general feeling of all that it was a most successful affair.
